Mississippi Man Threatens President

A federal judge ordered a Mississippi man held without bond for allegedly threatening to kill President Barack Obama.

David Williams of Attala County was arrested Wednesday.

Krisi Allen, a U.S. attorney’s spokeswoman, said U.S. Magistrate Judge David Sanders ordered Williams held Friday.

A Secret Service agent’s statement says Williams called the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson on Tuesday to schedule surgery for his wife. The statement says Williams was told the hospital wouldn’t do the surgery, and he threatened to blow up the hospital and kill Obama, using a racial epithet.

Williams was charged with threatening Obama and using a telephone to threaten to damage a building with explosives. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

William’s attorney did not immediately respond to a message.
