Bolivar PD Conducts Saturation
A police saturation of east Bolivar is what Interim Police Chief Pat Baker said is the first of many tactics he will use to lower the crime rate in the area. “Some of the second and third shift officers worked with some help from two units from the sheriff’s department who helped in the saturation,” said Interim Police Chief Pat Baker of the Bolivar Police Department. Interim Police Chief Baker said the operation resulted in 14 citations and nine arrest, the majority of which were alcohol related. “I think it would be of help. I really do,” said east Bolivar resident, James Woods. Woods said he did not see the officers, but was home for most of the weekend. “On one of the traffic stops, there was a family having a picnic,” said Interim Police Chief Baker. Baker said the family stood and applauded their efforts. “In 23 years I’ve been yelled at a lot, but not in a good way like that,” he adds, jokingly referring to the crowd of applauding residents. He said going forward there will be specific officers assigned to east Bolivar and the department will rely on their intelligence to plan future operations.
