A conference designed to bring neighborhoods closer together is coming up this weekend in Jackson. The Neighborhood Services Department of the city, along with LANA and the Jackson Police Department are presenting the second annual Neighborhoods Networking Conference on Saturday. The goal of the event is to educate and increase awareness of valuable tools and resources available to help prevent crime and improve quality of life for the city’s residents. There will be breakout sessions on crime prevention, neighborhood services and building and housing codes. “We also want to let them know what is available to them from the government side,” said Monique Merriweather, with Jackson Neighborhood Services. “And we want to see if we can build a relationship and partner with them for different programs. We want to hear their ideas, we want to hear their input because we serve them.” The conference is a lead up for National Night Out set for Tuesday, August 2.
