Council to Vote on Location for New Fire Station

Efforts to build a new fire station for a newly annexed area of Jackson apparently will see action at the upcoming city council meeting. The city planning department is recommending the new station be located on a five acre site along Windy City Road. Planners said the site location would serve the newly annexed area well and is rather flat which would help with development costs. The asking price for the property is $180,000. If approved during the council’s August meeting, the city would close on the purchase in September.
