Perry County Church Camp Under Investigation
The Tennessee Department of Children’s Services is looking into allegations that boys were sexually abused at a youth camp used by Baptist churches.
Rob Johnson, a spokesman for the department, said Friday that a team of investigators is looking into multiple allegations that youths were assaulted at Camp Linden in Perry County.
A mother, whose children attend First Baptist Church in Clarksville, said her 11-year-old son said older boys grabbed him and simulated a sex act after inviting a half-dozen 11- and 12-year-old boys to a midnight pizza party in a cabin.
An attorney for First Baptist Church said he couldn’t comment, but that the matter is being handled by church authorities, according to The Leaf-Chronicle.
Perry County Sheriff Tommy Hickerson was not immediately available for comment on Friday morning.
