Jackson city leaders are taking another step toward purchasing the former campus of Lambuth University in time for use by the University of Memphis this fall. During Tuesday’s regular monthly meeting, the Jackson city council will vote on contributing its $2 million share of the almost $8 million dollars needed to purchase the west Jackson campus. University of Memphis president, Doctor Shirley Raines is expected to be at Tuesday’s city council vote. Just last week, Jackson Energy Authority’s board of directors approved its $2 million contribution. Stake holders with West Tennessee Healthcare have also approved their contribution. Thursday, the Madison County Commission will hold a vote on a $ 2 million contribution.
