West Tennesseans came together to celebrate what a community can do as a unit to cut down on crime Tuesday night as a part of the nation-wide crime fighting tool, “National Night Out”. Officers said the concept of neighbors getting to know neighbors as well as police officers who patrol their neighborhoods, help them solve crimes and reduce the number of home break-ins. “It is sending a message to those who do not follow the law,” said Jackson resident, Sabrina Transou. “It sends a message that just like the law watches you, the neighborhood is watching them too.” If your community is interested in starting a Neighborhood Watch program, contact the Jackson Police Department at (731) 425-8400.
