TDOT Tours Area Road Projects

TDOT officials took a ride through Jackson, Wednesday morning, as part of a viewing tour of major Tennessee construction projects. Also as part of the tour, Mayor Jerry Gist presented three proposed projects he hopes TDOT will consider funding in the future. Those include the expansion of the southern portion of the Hwy 45 Bypass, expanding Vann Drive eastward to Old Medina Road and improvements to the Casey Jones area access points. However, TDOT Commissioner John Schroer said expenses will limit how many of these projects will actually be accomplished. “We have a lot more projects than we have money so we have to put the needs of the people there and we have to decide where we need to spend our money. We have to priorities our projects,” said Schroer. He said the projects at the top of TDOT’s priority list will be the ones that attract the most jobs.
