What was originally thought to be a robbery of an east Jackson kennel has been deemed a burglary by Jackson police. Investigators say K-Nine Kennels on Whitehall Street was burglarized around 3:30 p.m., Wednesday. The owner told officers as he was walking back to the office portion of his business, he met a man coming out of the building. He says the suspect was not armed but believes he stole cash and checks from the office. The suspect also apparently left a severely emaciated dog by the business’ dumpster. The owner said the dog was not there before he left the office area. The dog was in such poor shape it could not stand up or move on its own. It was turned over to the Humane Society. The suspect is a black man, tall with a slim build and “narrow” face.” He is likely between 25 and 30-years-old, had a low haircut and medium complexion. He is believed to be in an older model, burgundy, 4-door Pontiac Grand Prix. At least two other people were in the vehicle at the time, according to the victim. If you recognize the suspect’s description or can help investigators with this case, contact the Property Crimes Unit of the Jackson Police Department at (731) 425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at (731) 424-8477 (TIPS).
