The paint has dried, renovations are finished and now many Jackson officers have a new place to cal home. The Criminal Investigation Division and Special Operations Unit of the Jackson Police Department have moved into a new annex building on East Main Street. City workers helped with renovations, over the last few weeks, of the one-time vacant building. The building was leased by the City of Jackson until recently when the City Council voted to purchase the building to help give the police department so much needed space. Leaders say they are happy to be in their new “digs.” “It keeps us in the downtown area, keeps us closer to the bus station, library,” said Capt. Mike Holt. “It keeps more officers present in downtown and on Main Street.” Leaders of the department say the additional space has been needed for quite some time.
