Purvis Indicted in High School Hit and Run Case

The teen accused of running a Crockett County student over with his Jeep is now facing indictment in the case. A Dyer County grand jury returned the indictment against Christopher Purvis, 18, on charges of attempted first degree murder and leaving the scene of an accident. Riley Ward is recovering from severe injuries suffered when he was hit by the vehicle Police said Purvis was driving in April of this year. Ward spent three months in the hospital and rehab before returning home in July and said he can not remember being hit. The hit and run happened after a baseball game in Dyersburg between Dyersburg and Crockett County High Schools. Purvis is free on a $50,000 bond.
