Church Members Repair Homes In East Jackson
At a time when so many are under financial stress, a Jackson church is helping those in need by repairing their homes. For the first time, more than 50 members of Calvary Baptist Church stopped by three homes in East Jackson to help their neighbors with costly repairs. “We’re working all the way around this house,” volunteer Johnny Williams said. “We’re scraping and painting all the windows and all the areas around the house.” The city even supplied all of the materials and tools they needed. “We are here serving the Lord,” Williams said. He adds, “This is what He wants us to do, and that’s why we’re here.” Church members said they are volunteering to witness to others, and they plan to do it at least four times a year. They said they are looking for even more people to join them next time and said you do not have to be a member of Calvary Baptist Church to volunteer.
