Here is a reminder as you drive around beginning this weekend through September 5….”Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.” The Jackson Police Department will join nearly 10,000 other agencies in an intensive crackdown or impaired driving during the period. Department officials said all too often, innocent, law-abiding residents suffer injuries and loss of loved ones due to careless disregard for human life. There will be sobriety checkpoints on August 26 and increased focus on removing impaired drivers from roadways across the nation during the focus period. The project is funded by the Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
