Boat Crash Kills KY Teen
A 17-year-old from Florence has died in a boat crash on the Ohio River.
The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Resources agency identified the victim as Timothy Austin Hagedorn. Investigators said Hagedorn and four other people were on a runabout when it collided with a 38-foot boat near the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge, according to The Kentucky Enquirer.
Investigators said all five people in the runabout were thrown into the river in the crash early Saturday. The four survivors were taken to University Hospital and Hagedorn’s body was recovered. Four people on the larger boat escaped injury.
Hebron Fire Department spokesman Mike Fronimos said Hagedorn joined the department’s Explorer program on Wednesday and wanted to become a firefighter.
