Police have arrested a man in connection with a drive-by shooting which happened just before 10n Monday night in the 400 block of North Bradford in Brownsville. “It doesn’t appear to be random, but we don’t know the exact reason,” said Lieutenant Chuck Willis of the Brownsville Police Department. Witnesses said a individual driving a white Escalade pulled up to a group of three men and opened fire. A witness said he heard eight shots, one of which hit a man, grazing him. “I was asleep and I heard some gun shots and I saw a lot of guys running,” said Sherry Tyus, mother of the man grazed by the bullet. She adds, “I was just scared. I was afraid. I thought he had gotten shot.” Lt. Willis said a short time later, patrolman pulled over a vehicle fitting the description of the car involved in the drive-by shooting. Authorities arrested Matthew Freels, 19, and have charged him with attempted 1st degree murder. Police said the victim identified Freels at the scene.
