Late Memphis Radio Personality Honored

A Memphis street has been renamed in memory of radio personality John “Bad Dog” McCormack.

Alabama Avenue, which runs in front of the Ronald McDonald House, now carries his name.

According to The Commercial Appeal McCormack was a longtime supporter of the Ronald McDonald House and was devoted to raising money for the families of cancer-stricken children who are patients at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

McCormack, of Rock 103 WEGR, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2009 and died March 10 of this year at age 55. He once said his illness brought him closer to the children at Ronald McDonald House.

Ronald McDonald House of Memphis opened in 1991 and provides a free “home away from home” for families who are in Memphis while their children receive treatment.
