Several homes throughout Dyersburg are still unlivable due to flood damage and now the city is taking action. Around 20 houses have notices on their doors verifying the residences are no longer safe. Owners say they received a notice in the mail this week informing them they have 30 days to either tear down their house themselves or the city would do it and charge them. Chris Vestal grew up in one of the condemned homes. “I’m okay with tearing it down. I guess I’ve come to terms to letting it go, you know? It’s time to move on,” said Vestal City codes officials would not comment about the notices.
