The Tennessee Department of Agriculture is encouraging farmers to speak up about their livelihood. State leaders said farm folk are brought up to be humble and not to go around talking about themselves. But ag leaders said it may be uncomfortable to speak in front of people, but successful agritourism operators know that marketing and advertising, like fertilizers, will make your operation grow. Those attending an ag workshop in Jackson, Tuesday were giving tips on how to improve marketing skills. Leaders said they hope farmers who attended the workshop will help farmers think about changes they need to make for next year.
