Police Chase Leads to Crash
Three Carroll County residents are in serious condition after being involved in a police chase near McKenzie. Officers told ABC 7 Eyewitness News, James H. Brown of Huntingdon was driving in a Saturn Ion in McKenzie with two passengers when he hit a school bus and fled the scene. According to deputies, Brown has an outstanding warrant in Carroll County and the other passengers, Heidy Varela and John Omahony have a criminal history. After the hit and run, officers said they attempted to pull Brown over, but he sped away. He then led them on an 11 minute chase into the county on Langford Store Road where police said it came to a violent end. “The vehicle veered off the left side of the roadway and tried to over correct and come back across and broad sided an oak tree,” said Lieutenant Tim Nanny of the McKenzie Police Department. All three inside the car had to be air-lifted to various hospitals for their injuries. They are expected to be arrested once they recover.
