Deputy Fired After Wrecking Truck
The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office has fired a deputy whose pickup truck ran into a house, injuring a woman inside the home.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the department said Jason Henegar was no longer employed there.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, which occurred Tuesday while Henegar was off duty and driving his own vehicle. Janice Hatfield was treated for a broken collar bone, according to WVLT-TV in Knoxville The 52-year-old Hatfield declined to be interviewed on camera, but told the station she was sore from the injury.
Hatfield was sleeping on a couch when, according to the incident report, Henegar missed a turn and his truck smashed through Hatfield’s front door.
Sheriff Robbie Goins said he will have a news conference Thursday afternoon.
