Community members in the Jackson area began their refection of the September 11th 10 year anniversary a little early. On Friday morning, leaders and safety officials joined residents to remember the lives that were lost and changed forever. The program at George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home placed a special focus on the way first responders reacted to the terror events of 2001. They dedicated the ceremony to law enforcement, fire officials, and members of the military, locally who show that same courage every day. “When we pause to reflect on September 11th in just a couple of days that we’ll be reminded of how America pulled together on that day and hopefully we can continue to try and do that in the days to come,” said Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork. All of the people at the event were able to sign a 10th anniversary register that was sent to the Mayor of New York City.
