Flights Diverted To Nashville

Officials say a safety concern prompted additional security measures on a Southwest plane that landed in Nashville a day after another Southwest flight was diverted to Nashville because a passenger demonstrated suspicious behavior.

Southwest did not immediately return a phone call to The Associated Press seeking comment about Sunday’s flight 3596.

However, Southwest spokesman Chris Mainz told WKRN-TV in Nashville that the additional security measures for the flight was done out of caution and that no one was in danger (

He did not elaborate.

The flight, which originated from Kansas City, was headed to Tampa when it landed at the Nashville International Airport around 2:15 p.m. for a connection.

All the passengers were to be re-screened before heading to Tampa.

As for Saturday’s flight, no arrests have been made.
