Attempted Murder Suspect Appears in Court

A Jackson man accused of attacking his estranged wife’s boyfriend made his first court appearance Monday. Edgar Hernandez, 24, was charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault, especially aggravated burglary and evading arrest. Officers said following a heated exchange of text messages, Hernandez when to his wife’s south Jackson home where he stabbed her boyfriend multiple times. The wife and another woman suffered minor injuries when they tried to break up the fight. Hernandez is jailed in lieu of $150,000.
