Madison County jurors found Christopher Osteen not guilty of attempted first degree murder in the shooting of a Jackson police officer. But they did not think Osteen was completely innocent. It took jurors 20 minutes to return the not guilty verdict in the shooting of Officer Mark Headen during a burglary attempt last September. But they did find Osteen guilty of burglary, resisting arrest, evading arrest, possession of a firearm, aggravated assault by reckless conduct. The judge ordered him to pay a total of $11,000 in fines. Osteen will be sentenced on the charges October 31. He also faces an additional charge of having a gun as a convicted felon.
