Surprise Plea In Chester County Murder Case

40 year old Marcus Thompson pleaded guilty today in connection with the 2009 murder of Henderson grandmother Carolyn Ward. Thompson entered a “best interest” plea today to avoid a trial in connection with carjacking and subsequent murder of Ward. Following the plea, Thompson was sentenced to 40 years in prison. Earlier this week, Thompson was sentenced to a 90 year term in connection with the 2009 armed robbery of a Jackson salon. Between the two cases, Thompson will not be eligible for parole until he is 96 years old. Thompson’s co-defendants in the Ward case have already been through the justice system. John Freeland was convicted and sentenced to death in May. The third defendant Tashundra Mosley plead guilty in exchange for an agreement to testify against Thompson and Freeland. She will be sentenced next month.
