A home invasion in Union City sent a teen running for his life after he reportedly was punched in the face by a man who kicked in the door of the home where he was staying. Just after midnight Wednesday, the 17-year-old said he was babysitting his cousin when two black men came crashing into the home, grabbed him, and pulled him toward a bedroom. He said he was able to break away and take his 6-year-old cousin from the home. Neighbor Glenda Meegan said, “Evidently the 17-year-old come over here with the little girl, his little girl was underneath my chair and he was squatted down on the floor and he got up after his mom and dad come back and he ran back home.” The teenagers aunt and her boyfriend, Michael Busby, were at the store. Police believe the men were looking for something besides the safe they took from Busby’s bedroom. Investigators said a pound of marijuana was found outside by the air conditioner. A Union City Police investigator stated this may be a case where a drug dealer was robbing another drug dealer. Busby is charged with manufacture, sale, and delivery of a controlled substance, simple possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and contributing to delinquency to minor. Busby was released from jail Thursday afternoon. Police are still searching for the two black men who barged into the home.
