Denmark Head Start Kids Learn About Careers
Thursday, four-year-old student from the Denmark and Lincoln Head Start programs were asked the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” A fair meant to answer that question, at least for now, was hosted in Denmark. The close to 60 students were able to hear first hand from every one from sheriff’s deputies to firefighters. The grownups said they just hoped to make a good impression. “To be able to interact with everybody and see us promote eduction, I think it will help us down the road,” said Deputy T.J. Dineen with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. “We’re able to give them junior badges and interact with them, so they get to see us in a different role than just when something bad happens.” The children also heard from local doctors, lawyers and a dentist. This was the first year of the “When I Grow Up” Fair. Next year, teachers tell us they hope it is even bigger.
