Royale Burger Closes Both Locations
Royale Burger has closed two West Tennessee locations leaving employees waiting on checks. “I went there last Friday. Me and several others went to get our pay checks. We saw no managers, or should I say we saw no owners,” said former employee Lovey Hardin. The doors to the Humboldt location has been closed since Friday. The restaurant recently closed its second location in Jackson’s Old Hickory Mall just a few days after opening. Hardin says he started working as a server for the restaurant in Humboldt early in September. He said so far he has only received tips from customers and is still waiting on a check. “What I want from the owners of Royale Burger is my money. I do not want to destroy them. I do not want to hurt them. I want every penny that I worked hard for and I want it all,” said Hardin. Late Tuesday evening Royale Burger owner Dementri Saltz released this statement to ABC 7 Eyewitness News. To our valued customers, and our community; The only statement that we are prepared to release at this time is the following. The remarks made on WBBJ we feel where edited to the extent that the owners and managers, where both not only present for comment but tried to engage in conversation with the reporter. Secondly, the allegations that our employees haven‘t been paid in over two months, is purely an act of inadequate information. We did not begin hiring any employees until August 16th 2011 and the employees that have worked there have been paid on August 29th 2011, and on September 10th 2011. All of these records are available to the appropriate parties. In the process of the riot one of our former employees (who was shown in the latter part of the WBBJ footage) had went to the back of the Humboldt store, opened the safe and removed the register money, the deposit bag, two full check books and attempted to take 4 computers. Right away this was reported to the Humboldt Police Department, and to our bank, who in full cooperation Froze the account until the parties were apprehended or the checks and money were returned. At this time the company is doing all it can to take care of all of the employees. At this time the Humboldt location, and the Jackson location will not be re opening. We also wanted to take the time to address the blatant allegation that was made by an employee and strongly pushed by WBBJ that “we were smoking it up”. This is a very blatant character attack that has no backing, or truth. Sincerely Royale Burger
