Brooks Meets New Constituents
Jackson City Councilman Ernest Brooks II hosted a community awareness meeting on Tuesday for his recently redistricted area. Brooks gained the Wallace and Wiley Parker Road area after the new city council lines were drawn. He used Tuesday’s gathering to meet his new constituents and learn the issues that concern them. Jackson police officers were also on hand to talk about “Neighborhood Action Committees” and the importance of taking action against crime in your own area. Brooks said, “I hope they see that number one, I’m very enthusiastic about representing them. Number two, that I’m receptive and responsive to their issues and concerns, and three, I hope to encourage them to form a neighborhood association in this area.” The councilman and the Jackson Police Department stressed how police can help organize the committee, but the neighborhood must take it from there to make a difference.
