TOSHA Clears Gatlinburg In Wastewater Accident
The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration found no safety violations in its investigation of a fatal accident at the Gatlinburg Wastewater Treatment Plant, according to The Mountain Press .
Two workers were killed and millions of gallons of sewage spilled into the Little Pigeon River in the popular Smoky Mountains resort town April 5.
The fatalities occurred when the wall of a holding basin fell on top of the two while they were working beneath it. The concrete basin will be demolished and replaced.
The Environmental Protection Agency also investigated the spill and issued no citations.
Some 9 million people a year visit the town.
