Food Drive for the Dream Center
During the past ten days an alliance has been formed of businesses, business owners, elected officials, and private citizens here in Jackson to take action to help the Dream Center. First, members of the Jackson Wine & Spirits Retailers Association, along with the help of many others have taken on the challenge of making sure that the Dream Center has a fully operational kitchen before Thanksgiving. This is being done with the tremendous help of Home Depot and local contractors. Our biggest issue is the cost of a fire suppression system, which will run well over $6,000. FOOD DRIVE This next week on Friday and Saturday 10/7 & 10/8 along with the following Friday & Saturday 10/14 & 10/15, from 8am until 6pm there will be a major food donation drive for the Dream Center. Donation stations will be in the Lynnwood Shopping Center beside Lynnwood Wine & Spirits and Meineke Car Center and at Serra Cheverolet on Hwy. 45 Bypass. Our goal is make sure that the Center’s pantry is overflowing throughout the winter with ample food for nutritious balanced meals every day for every resident. At each location Serra, through the help of Murray Exum will be providing new pickup trucks to fill with canned and non-perishable foods and other goods. I am truly hoping that I have to call Murray several times to send another truck. Many thanks also to Mr. Larry Washington, manager of Kroger Lynnwood for his support. For every item donated at Meineke Car Care Center, customers will get $1.00 off of an oil change or service up to $10.00 off. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please take time to tell your friends, post on Facebook, announce to you Sunday school class. Please spread the word and let’s show what kind of community we really are! Above all, clean out your cabinets, or buy a few extra items when grocery shopping and come to one of the drop off points Friday and Saturday.
