Brownsville Businesses to Celebrate Halloween

Merchants in Brownsville and Haywood County will continue a tradition this Halloween by staying open later for the safety of children. The businesses will stay open until 7:00 p.m. on October 31 as part of a program called “Trick or Treat Me.” The event began in 2008 when members of the Brownsville Business Association decided a safer alternative was needed to traditional trick or treating. Organizers said under this arrangement, children do not need to visit strangers homes or unfamiliar neighborhoods. Last year, more than 20 businesses participated in “Trick or Treat Me.”
