More women are reporting cases of domestic violence in Jackson, according to the Women’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program. According to WRAP officials, one out of every three women will experience some form of domestic violence abuse. That number increased from one of every four women. Officials said they hope the tragic death of Daphne Kenner, 18, will bring more light to domestic violence. “We’re seeing a lot of more dating violence is what we’re seeing. There are a lot more of young women and young men getting into more adult relationships,” said WRAP Director Margaret Cole. Experts have said domestic violence abuse includes everything from verbal, physical and sexual abuse. According to officials, stealing or tampering with someone’s property is a form of domestic violence and should be reported. Officials consider these warning signs for future abuse. WRAP offers free help to women and men throughout West Tennessee. The group’s 24 hour hotline is available by calling 1-800-273-8712.
