Friends and co-workers of Daphne Kenner, 18, of Jackson, struggle to make since of her senseless murder. Kenner, who was a May graduate of South Side High School, was a straight A student with dreams of becoming a physical therapist. To afford college, eventually she worked at the Food Giant grocery store in south Jackson. On Wednesday, co-workers remembered her as a genuinely sweet girl who was happy and playful. Yet, they say her tumultuous relationship with Tray Chaney, 18, was evident at work just the day before she was killed. Kenner’s supervisor Desiree Poole said on Monday Chaney showed up at the grocery store and began harassing Kenner as she worked at a register. “I went out and personally told her he had to leave,” remembered Poole. “I took him outside to his car and told him he couldn’t bother her at her job.” Poole went on to say Chaney handed her a bouquet of flowers and asked that she give them to Kenner. “And, I did,” she said.
