First Look Inside Massive Marijuana Grow
Just days after 300,000 marijuana plants were seized from Obion County, officials are still finding growth scattered across the property. On Friday, officers gave us a look into this massive marijuana grow. The remote fields were accessible only by ATV. It was evident that those who tended the crops also lived on the land. There were caves for housing generators, hoses for irrigating systems, homemade showers, clothes hung up to dry, pallets for sleeping, stockpiles of food, pans, and cooking utensils. There was even an area designated to process the drug. Homemade racks were constructed to hang the marijuana to dry. “This is high dollar products, and they’ve got a lot of time and investment put in to trying to get rewards of their crops,” says Obion County Chief Deputy Kent Treece. Deputies estimate the street value of the destroyed plants at $400 million. The cleaning process won’t be completely finished for awhile. Treece says while clearing the area seeds were dropped and they will have to keep coming back on foot to make sure there aren’t any volunteer plants growing up.
