Hohenwald Officer Recovering From Shooting
A Middle Tennessee police officer is recovering after being shot during a traffic stop.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says Hohenwald city police officer Robert Fransen pulled over a car shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday and shots were fired from another car that drove by, one of the rounds striking Fransen in the hip.
The officer was released from a hospital after treatment.
In a news release, the TBI said it was charging Carmen Jose Sharp and Tyler Thomas Hunter with attempted criminal homicide.
Hohenwald Police charged the driver Fransen stopped on a drug charge. He is Colby Spears.
Lewis County prosecutor Kim Helper asked the TBI to investigate.
Hohenwald is about 60 miles southwest of Nashville.
