Mississippi Forced To Reprint Some Ballots
The Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office says many counties will have to reprint ballots or add inserts because ballot wording distributed by the office lacked key information.
Pamela Weaver, spokeswoman for Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, says the attorney general contacted their office last week saying he believed the “fiscal analysis” – the cost to taxpayers for each of the ballot initiatives – should be included on the ballots, per the state Constitution. After considering the attorney general’s opinion, Weaver says Hosemann agreed and ordered the reprint.
Weaver says any absentee votes already cast will count in the Nov. 8 election.
She also says the Secretary of State’s Office will pay the counties’ extra printing expenses but didn’t know how many were involved or how much it would cost.
