A Henderson County inmate escaped for a short time while being treated in the local hospital for a stroke. Officials said Buddy Dewayne Stewart was in the Henderson County Hospital after he apparently had a stroke. They said when nurses helped him to the restroom on Wednesday afternoon, Stewart bolted out of the room, then out of the hospital and ran across the street. A Scotts Hill police officer passing through Lexington saw Stewart, and was able to arrest him. You may remember Stewart as the man arrested in July for allegedly stealing a car. Investigators later found out he had been living under a fake identity for years. He now faces an additional charge for attempting escape.
