A Madison County deputy is off the job without pay for two days all because of what he wrote on his Facebook page. According to Sheriff David Woolfork, William Wyatt, 22, who works at the Penal Farm, violated departmental policy by talking about work-related activities on the social media site. Wyatt waived his right to a disciplinary hearing, Thursday, and accepted his two-day suspension. The sheriff said the department is now in the process of drafting a polity directly concerning the use of social media by all employees. “When the officers receive the policy then they’ll have a clear understanding of how they’re to use their Facebook page, said Sheriff David Woolfork. “Again, some of it is personal as long as they’re not using it at, work activities then, that’s when, in our opinion, they’re in over the line and they’re in violation of that policy.” Wyatt has been with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department since January of last year.
