Two Charged in Wednesday Shooting

Jackson police have filed changes against two of the three men linked to Wednesday afternoon’s shooting outside a north Jackson apartment complex in what is now being called a deal that went bad. Otis Love and Alexander Merriweather each face marijuana and weapons charges along with a count of tampering with evidence. Love also faces a charge of theft for having a handgun reported stolen in 2007 from a Jackson home. Merriweather faces an additions charge for violating his parole for a 2010 weapon and drug charge. Investigators believe both suspects , along with the 19-year-old victim pulled out guns during the drug deal and started shooting. The victim was hit twice but was released from the hospital a few hours later. A getaway driver for Love and Merriweather was not charged.
