Bond Set for Love and Merriweather

Two men of the three linked to Wednesday’s shooting outside a north Jackson apartment complex in what is now being called a drug deal gone bad headed to court. Otis Love and Alexander Merriweather both were in Jackson City Court Friday morning on a marijuana and weapons charge along with a count of tampering with evidence. Police said Love also faces a charge of theft for having a handgun reported stolen in 2007 from a Jackson home. Merriweather faces an additional charge for violating his parole for a 2010 weapon and drug charge. Investigators believe both suspects, along with the 19-year-old victim pulled out guns during the drug deal and started shooting. The victim was hit twice, but was released from the hospital a few hours later. Love and Merriweather were arraigned in city court and have bonds set at $100,000 each. They return to court on November 10, A get-away driver was not charged.
