Many people will start looking for temporary holiday jobs this time of year, but experts say those positions could be scarce. Tennessee Career Center of Jackson’s assistant director Mark Chandler said early November is prime time for retailers to start hiring help for the holidays. However, he added they are starting to see the same pattern as last year, which is a low number of temporary positions opening up. He advised that job seekers not wait for businesses to start advertising their need for extra help, but to start filling out applications as soon as possible. “I would suggest, go to some of the businesses that you would like to work at for the holidays, whether that be a retail establishment or something in the mall. And just check with them and see if they are going to be hiring,” said Chandler. He also says large retailers corporations usually have online applications ready to fill out for the holiday season.
