Trenton Police Investigate Pharmacy Burglary
Trenton police are looking for four suspects who allegedly broke into a local pharmacy and stole thousands of dollars worth of pills. Pharmacist Clint Sturgeon said the break-in is the most severe incident they have had at Eddie’s Pharmacy in the 10 years he has been working there. “More than anything Sunday was frustrating to have to deal with something somebody had no respect for what I do and our business here, and just to come do that just because they were greedy,” Sturgeon said. According to police, witnesses called them around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, saying that four black men were breaking into the pharmacy. They told investigators one of the men shot rocks out of a paintball gun to break the glass door. “The suspects entered the business and grabbed whatever prescriptions they could and exited the business very quickly and left in a vehicle,” Lt. James Wilson said. That is when police in Humboldt spotted the black SUV and pulled them over for having tinted windows that were too dark. The suspected thieves stopped for a minute, then fled the scene. “The pursuit was called off due to the safety concerns of pursuing a vehicle at that time of day,” Wilson said. Police said they are looking to talk to Rufus Williams, 37, who is from Lake Worth, Florida, and owns the getaway SUV. Pharmacy employees said the thieves took about $2,000 worth of Hydrocodone and pain pills. The good news, Sturgeon said, is that no patients went without their medication. If you have information about the break-in, call the Trenton Police Department at (731) 855-1413 or Gibson County Crimestoppers (731) 855-2005.
