It has been more than two weeks since investigators said gang-related fights broke out at North Side High School. So 7 Eyewitness News wanted to know what changes the Jackson-Madison County School System has made since then. Superintendent Buddy White told 7 Eyewitness News that in the past two weeks, they have had two community meetings with parents. He said they are currently planning a parent meeting at North Side, and that the Jackson Police Department’s Gang Unit will talk with principals this coming Tuesday. Previously, gang-related training was not required every year, but White said as long as he is superintendent, it will happen. “The way I would do that is to have the gang unit representatives come to a principals’ meeting and just ask them to let us know what we need to know,” White said. According to White, the principals will pass along what they learn in Tuesday’s meeting to their teachers during faculty meetings.
