Commission Discusses Mitchell Case, No Action Taken
The Madison County Commission discussed Monday the recent ruling that former Assistant Chief Deputy Butch Mitchell must be reinstated, but it was all behind closed doors since it involved personnel matters. Last week, a judge ruled Mitchell should be reinstated and given back pay since his 2005 firing. As of Monday, no final order on the case has been issued, so the commission could not take action. The county attorney declined to comment on the close door meeting, other than to say no action was taken. It has not been decide if the county will appeal the judge’s decision.
