Threatening Letters Received in Lexington

A string of bomb threats arrived in the mail in Lexington, Tuesday, putting police on high alert. The Lexington Police Department received three different calls from businesses that received hand written letters in the mail that included threats of bombs that were on their property. Officers told 7 Eyewitness News the Lexington Gas System, the newspaper in Lexington as well as another local business all received the letters currently incarcerated in state prison. “These letters lack any credible evidence to support that anything that’s said in them, said Capt. Jeff Middleton of the Lexington Police Department.” The threats that are made in them, that he has any ability to carry those threats out.” Investigators believe more letters could be out there. At this point, they do not believe the letters pose a real threat because of the time the inmate has been in prison. His name was not released, but police said he does not appear to have any connection to the city of Lexington.
