Dozens Run In Turkey Trot

Dozens of runners braced the gloomy weather Saturday morning to run more than three miles for the Jackson Family YMCA. About 75 people turned out for the run, even though it looked like it would rain. Organizers said about 65 to 100 people participate each year. Winners received medals, and the first 50 runners who registered received goody bags and turkey t-shirts. Organizers said the annual event is something for the entire family. “It’s a great way to spend time with your family and the YMCA’s mission is really about being in the community and enriching families’ lives, so really just to spend time with your family, whether you’re walking it or you’re running it, it’s a great family affair,” said Kim Gilchrist, YMCA Health and Fitness Director. Money from the run goes toward YMCA programs and scholarships for those who want to become Y members.
