TDOT Workers Practice Ahead of Winter Weather

JACKSON, Tenn- Winter weather is on the way and The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is gearing up to make roadways safer and free of ice as the weather changes. TDOT Employees sat in a training class to learn about the new equipment that will be used to make roadways safer this winter. Since last year, TDOT officials said its winter weather budget has increased by more than $19 million. “We’re training some of our snow plow drivers to go through and learn some of the new equipment we put on the trucks this year, in and effort to conserve salt and do a better job in keeping the roadways clear,” said John Thomas, Incident Manager at TDOT. TDOT officials said their goal is to make sure West Tennesseans are safe in spite of harsh conditions, should they come this season.
