Henry County deputies are looking for a Kentucky man, who is accused of stealing a semi trailer and items worth $12,000. Deputies recovered the trailer in Henry County, but the trailer was stolen from Kentucky. The Henry County Sheriff’s Department has a warrant for David Elliott, 57, who is accused of stealing the trailer from Calloway County, Kentucky. “We got the information from a lady that we had arrested prior for stealing a lot of antiques from a bed and breakfast,” Captain Damon Lowe said. “She wanted to speak with a Kentucky officer. She did give them information about a stolen trailer, which was located in Henry County, Tennessee.” The semi trailer, which is 40 feet long, has since been returned to its owner in Kentucky, just three days after it was stolen. Deputies said the owner used it for storage. “They think everything that was actually in it to begin with was stolen in Kentucky. I think it contained some copper wiring and different merchandise there, but when it was actually brought to Tennessee it was empty,” Lowe said. Investigators said they are charging Elliott with possessing a stolen trailer worth more than $1,000. “The value of the trailer was valued at $1,000, but the contents, which were already stolen in Kentucky, they had valued at $12,000,” he said. If Elliott is caught in Henry County, he will go to jail and court there. “And then if Kentucky has additional charges he’ll be extradited in Kentucky,” Lowe said. 7 Eyewitness News contacted the Calloway County, Kentucky Sheriff’s Office about Elliott, but they would not comment on the case because it is still under investigation. Anyone with information about Elliott’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (731) 642-1672.
