A dispute involving Chester County and The Chester County Nursing Home has lasted for years. “They owe for July, August, September, October, November, December,” said Chester County Mayor Dwain Seaton. “They haven’t paid anything,” said Dee Shires from Chester County Healthcare. “Even the part that they agree they owe. I think they are trying to get out of paying one million dollars.” Chester County owns the nursing home, Chester County Healthcare runs the nursing home. For the past six months Chester County Healthcare has not paid the $60,000 a month rent. Chester County Healthcare claims they are owed $1.4 million dollars for essential upkeep of the nursing home. “Like pave the parking lots and they kind of argued about that but I said have you ever tried to push a wheelchair over loose gravel?,” said Shires. They do agree on one thing, the importance of keeping the residence right here. “The residents are going to be o.k. There was never any intention of evicting anyone or doing away with anyone’s job or anything,” said Mayor Seaton. According to Dee Shires the business will be sold to a local businness owner, the county will still own the building. “They have pushed us to the point that we are gonna get out and sell and so hopefully we will be able to resolve this so we can stop some of the lawyer action and the court action,” said Shires.
